Turtle Point Surf Location is a serene beauty itself. Hidden away in the city of Matara, in close proximity to Mirissa, Madiha is a thousand delights to please all tastes. Being a secret surf spot on the local surf map, Madiha offers just about everything. Sun kissed beach, crystal blue water, shady coconut groves, aged old temples, beautiful reef for snorkeling, or you name it, whatever down south has to offer, Madiha is the place which has most of it.
Turtle point, located in Madiha is also considered to be one of the best hidden surf points in Sri Lanka. Madiha produces consistent swell all year round. There are three points altogether located close to each other. The main point is A frame which is a nice peeling wave. There is a left and a deep left, which is a steep take off, with a rocky bottom. The left has to be any advanced goofie’s paradise. There is a channel through which you can paddle to both sides, making it easier on big days to get to the lineup. There are two lineups at the A frame, out of which the second is ideal for intermediate surfers. Due to its hidden location, only a handful of people know about Madiha. Therefore this is a point where you can surf without many people in the lineup. Access to the beach is through a small path next to the wall of the big villa in the village. If you’re coming by tuk tuk, or scooter, you can park in the coconut plantation on the other side. If you’re looking for a fresh water bath after a long surf session, Sachin’s garden shower is available for you at a small charge.
